ANNOUNCEMENTS

The the CoaH Kids Blog posts are designed to give you an overview of what your kid(s) learned on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email me at mollie@coahchurch.org. 

Reminder: Please send your kids into CoaH Kids ready to worship. Please make sure they've eaten breakfast and have used the restroom. Do not send your child into CoaH Kids while they are actively eating a bagel (or any other food/snack). All food must be consumed before entering the theater or music room under the supervision of the child's parents. We will give a snack and have a bathroom break at some point during CoaH Kids but individual kids eating and using the bathroom during worship or the lesson is disruptive. We want everyone to be able to fully participate when they are checked into CoaH Kids. Thanks!

NURSERY

9AM Nursery: Children ages 0-1 year old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. There is a separate ministry for 2 - 3 year olds during this service. We provide cheerios for children over age 1 (unless specified by parents) and we try to spend a little bit of time reading the Bible story books. 

11AM Nursery: Children ages 0-3 years old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. We provide cheerios during Bible story reading time for children 1 year and older!

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. Only cheerios are give as a snack to children ages 1 years+. If your child cannot have cheerios, we will make an exception but feed him/her separately from the group. If possible, please bring a labelled water cup for your child to use during the nursery. If you've forgotten a label, the check-in coordinator would be happy to print out a label for you!

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

February Memory Verse: "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right." Ephesians 6:1

February Theme: Jesus Love Me (Jesus Loves the Little Children from Matthew 19:13-15)

From the parent take-home page:  Show your child a picture of Jesus and the children from a picture book. Talk about Jesus' love. For example, "Jesus loves this girl. Jesus also loves this girl. Jesus loves this boy. And Jesus loves you. "

Play a "Who loves you?" game with your child. Help your child make a list of people who love him. Make your child understand that Jesus loves him the most. For example, "who loves you?" [Daddy] "Yes!" End with "Jesus loves you the most!" In time you should be able to ask "Who loves you the most?"

Pray: Thank Jesus for loving you. Tell Jesus that you love Him.

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: Acts 6:1-7

Memory Verse: Mark 12:30-31 "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

Summary: This week in The Gospel Project® for Kids, our journey takes us to Jerusalem where the early church was booming with growth. There were two groups of Jews in the first church: Jews who spoke Greek and Jews who spoke Hebrew. The Greek-speaking Jews were from foreign countries, and the Hebrew-speaking Jews had been born in Israel. Tension existed between the two groups. The Greek-speaking Jews complained that their widows were not being cared for properly.

The Old Testament law was clear that God commanded His people to care for the orphans and widows. (See Ex. 22:22; Deut. 10:18.) The early church continued this Jewish custom, but the Greek-speaking Jews claimed their widows were not getting their share of the daily distributions.

The twelve apostles were quick to address the issue. They gathered all the believers together. The apostles explained that God had called them to preaching and teaching. They were not above handling problems among the people, but they wisely led the church to choose seven leaders to oversee such duties.

The church did not choose just anyone to serve; the men were reputable, full of the Spirit, and wise. The chosen seven were Stephen, Philip, Prochorus (PRAHK uh ruhs), Nicanor (nigh KAY nawr), Timon (TIGH mahn), Parmenas (PAHR mih nuhs), and Nicolaus (nik uh LAY uhs). Now the apostles were free to devote themselves to prayer and preaching, and the widows were properly cared for.

Christ Connection: Everyone in the church has a role in God’s work. The apostles believed that everyone in the church had an important job to do to serve God's people and help spread the gospel. The seven men who were chosen used their abilities to take care of others. Jesus wants us to serve others so that the message of His death and resurrection can be heard and believed all over the world.

Family Activity: Read Acts 6:1-7. Talk about how seven men were chosen to help take care of widows, women whose husbands had died. Think about an elderly person you know who may have recently lost a spouse or loved one. Talk about skills God has given your family members. Talk about ways they might serve and choose to do one of the suggestions this week.
