Rooted: Next Steps to Digging into the Gospel

The Rooted Campaign is an in-depth look at our church's core values of gospel, community, and mission. We're taking three weeks to dive into each of these important topics. We just completed our "gospel" segment of the rooted campaign. 

We defined the gospel as, "the 'good news' that God is reconciling a people to himself through the payment for their sin in the life, death, and resurrection of his Son, Jesus." Out of this definition of the gospel we discussed three aspects of the gospel - Incarnation, Substitution, and Restoration.

Each of us now needs to make that next step in our spiritual walk to dive deeper into the gospel. Here are some next steps that you can choose from depending upon where you are in your spiritual walk.

• Commit to reading a chapter in the Bible (start with John and then work through Philippians if you're new to the Bible) and praying 5 days a week.
• Share your faith story in your community group.
• Pick up one of the books highlighted at the book table:
  • A good intro to the gospel is The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller
  • A good book to apply the gospel to your life is How People Change by Paul Tripp & Timothy Lane.
  • A good book for a really deep look at the gospel is Center Church by Timothy Keller.
