Pastoral Reflection for 3.29.15

Friends,

The first verse in the passage we're studying this Sunday is this: "Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind."

Read that verse again. Think about it. How can you do this? How can you have a unity of mind with those who are sitting around you today? How can you show sympathy? Brotherly love? Is your heart tender? Do you allow yourself to be moved emotionally or to care for others? Do you have a humble mind? Or are you drunk off of how awesome you are?

This is a verse that I've been repeating to myself for several weeks now because it is one that reminds me of what it means to follow Jesus in such a practical way.

One thing that I want to call us to have a "unity of mind" on is the Alpha Course that we're starting on Easter. While compared to many churches we've reached lots of people with the gospel over our 4 years here, the reality is that we haven't even made a dint in this neighborhood for the sake of Christ yet.

So, I challenge you, have some "sympathy" for your neighbors. A "tender heart" for those you work with. Invite someone to come with you to Alpha. Let us know you're coming online or at the connections table. 

There's a group of us who will be praying every Sunday at 8:30AM in the theater for Alpha. God often uses the prayers of his people to accomplish his means. Maybe God wants to start a revival here. Maybe he wants to see dozens, or more, people come to know the Lord. Let's pray it forward.
