This Week in CoaH Kids - May 22, 2016

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Family Worship Sunday: Next Sunday we will be having Family Worship Sunday at both 9am & 11am services. On Family Worship Sundays your kids (Pre-K through 5th grade) will be taking a break from their regular CoaH Kids curriculum and joining everyone in the larger gathering for worship. This will happen 3 times this summer on the following dates:  May 29th, July 3rd, & Aug 14th. 

We regularly have Family Worship Sunday to remind you as parents that you are the primary disciple-maker of your children. You have the opportunity to model worship for your kids as we do in the larger gathering. We also think this is a great opportunity for the larger church body to identify our families and celebrate our children as part of the church.  

Church Picnic: Next week there will be a church-wide picnic at Waldstein Park located on the corner of Dean and Beacon. We'll gather there after the 11am service around 1:30pm. Hope to see you all there!

Kids' Summer Adventure: Kids ages 3 yrs - 5th grade are welcome to join us for our annual Kids' Summer Adventure, a day-camp style summer program held July 18-22nd from 9:00am - 12:30pm. We'll be searching for the treasure of God's Amazing Grace! See our website for more details.

 

NURSERY

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. We'll have a Cheerios snack during Bible story time, but please don't give your child a bagel or other snack when you are checking them in. We clean our toys regularly, but we don't like to take chances.

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

Memory Verse: Psalm 1:6 "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish."

May Theme: God always wins! Based on Exodus 5 - 12, your child learned about God freeing His people from Pharaoh. 

From the parent take-home page: When things are hard for you or your child, make statements like "God please help us." For example, if you are having a hard time lifting something heavy, say, "God, please help me." Remind your child that God is strong: God is big. Help your child understand the meaning of the word "wins." Use it frequently in conversation. Remind your child that the bad man said "No". God said "Yes." Make the statement, "God always wins." 

 

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

Memory Verse: Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." 

This Week's Story: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. Jesus’ fame was increasing. His ministry had begun with the calling of His disciples. Now Jesus traveled with them in the region of Galilee, teaching and performing miracles. The people recognized that Jesus wasn’t like other teachers; He taught with authority. He had even demonstrated His power over evil spirits by healing a man in the synagogue. News about Jesus was spreading. The subject of conversation around Galilee was changing. Who was this Jesus?

Jesus was in Capernaum when He went into the house of Simon Peter and Andrew, two of His disciples. Peter’s mother-in-law also lived in the house, but she was ill. A fever had confined her to bed. Jesus’ disciples told Jesus about the woman’s condition, and Jesus went to her side. Touching the woman’s hand, Jesus healed her. She immediately got up and began to serve Jesus and the others in the house. Serving Jesus and living for Him is how we can show we are thankful to Him.

People in the area heard about the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law, and they came to Jesus to be healed too. That evening, people came to Jesus afflicted by illness or evil spirits, and Jesus healed them. 

Christ Connection: The prophet Isaiah wrote that the promised Messiah would bear our sickness and carry our pain. Jesus fulfilled this prophecy as He healed people. Sickness exists because the world is broken by sin. One day, when Jesus returns, there will be no more sickness because Jesus dealt with sin on the cross. Jesus’ healings brought a glimpse into the kingdom of God, the world in which Jesus makes all things new—the way God intended—when He comes again. (See Rev. 21:4-5.)

• What did Jesus do to make her feel better? (He touched her hand)
