Kids Worship: Upcoming dates - May 14th & June 11th. Once a month we are going to ask that you take your children into the larger gathering and sing together as a family after you've checked them into CoaH Kids. Then they will be dismissed with their teachers for the regular CoaH Kids program.

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: Acts 21:17 - 28:31

Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..."

Summary: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. Last week, kids learned that through the prophet Agabus, the Holy Spirit had told Paul that he would be bound if he went back to Jerusalem, and that’s exactly what happened in today’s Bible story. Some Jews in Jerusalem accused Paul of teaching against God. They tried to kill him, but a Roman army commander stopped them and arrested Paul. Paul had been born a Roman citizen, and his status as such protected him from an unjustified beating.

While in prison, the Lord told Paul that he would one day teach about Him in Rome. Rome was one of the most powerful and influential cities of that day. But Paul spent two years in prison before he was sent to Rome to give his defense to Caesar. Along the way, the ship Paul was sailing on wrecked near the island of Malta. But God kept everyone safe, and Paul had a chance to pray for people who lived on the island. He even healed some of them.

Months later, Paul reached Rome. He was still a prisoner, but he was allowed to stay in a house by himself with a guard. He taught everyone who visited him about Jesus and the kingdom of God. Everyone there knew Paul was in prison for teaching about the Messiah. (Phil. 1:12-13)

Christ Connection: Paul’s work to spread the good news of Jesus continued in Rome. No punishment or suffering kept Paul from telling others about Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives believers power to share the gospel all over the world so people will know and love Jesus.

Family Activity: If weather permits, take a trip with your family to a lake, pond, or creek. Make boats out of leaves and twigs and sail them on the water. Open your Bible to Acts 27 and briefly review Paul’s shipwreck. Invite a family member to read Acts 27:24-26. Guide kids to write “Take courage” on sticky notes as a reminder that God helps us carry out His mission.

Review Questions for Pre-K – Kindergarteners:

• When the Jews tried to kill Paul, who stopped them? (a commander of the Roman army)
• What did the Lord say to Paul? (have courage)
• Big Picture Question: Why did Paul go to jail? Paul went to jail for teaching about Jesus.
• How many years was Paul in jail? (two years)
• Who told Paul not to be afraid of the storm at sea? (an angel)
• How many men were saved from the shipwreck? (all of them)
• Instead of going to a jail in Rome, where did Paul stay? (in a house with a guard)

Review Questions for 1st - 6th Graders:

• What happened when Paul was in the temple in Jerusalem? (A crowd dragged him out of the temple and tried to kill him, Acts 21:30-31)
• What did Paul tell the people who wanted to kill him? (He was once like them, but Jesus had changed him; Acts 22:3-11)
• What did the Lord tell Paul while he was in the barracks? (He told Paul to have courage. What Paul taught in Jerusalem, he would also teach in Rome; Acts 23:11)
• What did the governor do for Paul when He found out the Jews were plotting to kill him? (He protected Paul and sent him out of the city; Acts 23:23-24)
• What did the angel of God tell Paul during the storm at sea? (God would save the lives of everyone on the ship; Acts 27:23-24)
• Name some of the people whom Paul told about Jesus during hard times. (The Jews who were angry at him, the prisoners on the ship, the people on Malta, people who came to his house in Rom; Acts 22:1-11; 27:24-26, 35-36; 28:9, 30-31)
• Big Picture Question: How did God help Paul on his journey? God protected Paul so he could keep telling people about Jesus.

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

May Memory Verse: "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish." Psalm 1:6

May Theme: God frees His people from Pharaoh (Ex 5-12)

From the parent take-home page:  When things are hard for you or your child, make statements like “God, please help us.” For example, if you are having a hard time lifting something heavy, say, “God, please help me.”

Remind your child that God is strong; God is big.

Help your child understand the meaning of the word “wins.” Use it frequently in conversation. Remind your child that the bad man said “no." And God said “yes." Make the statement, “God always wins.”

Pray: Praise God because He always wins.

NURSERY

9AM Nursery: Children ages 0-1 year old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. There is a separate ministry for 2 - 3 year olds during this service. We provide cheerios for children over age 1 (unless specified by parents) and we try to spend a little bit of time reading the Bible story books. 

11AM Nursery: Children ages 0-3 years old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. We provide cheerios during Bible story reading time for children 1 year and older!

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. Only cheerios are give as a snack to children ages 1 years+. If your child cannot have cheerios, we will make an exception but feed him/her separately from the group. If possible, please bring a labelled water cup for your child to use during the nursery. If you've forgotten a label, the check-in coordinator would be happy to print out a label for you!
