ANNOUNCEMENTS

The the CoaH Kids Blog posts are designed to give you an overview of what your kid(s) learned on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email me at mollie@coahchurch.org.

Family Worship Sunday: Mark your calendars, our next Family Worship Sunday is June 25th at both 9am & 11am services. On Family Worship Sundays your kids (Pre-K through 6th grade) will be taking a break from their regular CoaH Kids curriculum and joining everyone in the larger gathering for worship.

We regularly have Family Worship Sunday to remind you as parents that you are the primary disciple-maker of your children. You have the opportunity to model worship for your kids as we do in the larger gathering. We also think this is a great opportunity for the larger church body to identify our families and celebrate our children as part of the church.  Read about Family Worship Sunday here.

Kids' Summer Adventure: Join us for Kids' Summer Adventure July 24-28, 2017. During this fun week of games, songs, snack and bible lessons your kids will uncover the Truth about who God is! Register here.

PRE-K - 6TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: 1 Corinthians 1-16

Memory Verse: Revelation 22:12-13 "Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

Summary: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. Today’s Bible story picks up in Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth. Years before he wrote this letter, he helped start the church there. He later wrote them the letter as the church was facing some problems, and he told them various things about how to follow Jesus.

Paul compared following Jesus to running a race, except that a believer's prize is not a trophy or medal that won't last, but rather the reward is in heaven where we will spend eternity with God, and that we will receive a crown that will last forever.

In an effort to address the division the church in Corinth was experiencing, specifically when they would gather for meals, Paul reminded them of the words Jesus said at the last supper. That he broke the bread and said "This is My body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me." Then afterwards he took the cup and said "This cup is the new covenant established by My blood. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

Paul then talked about the Holy Spirit giving believers different types of spiritual gifts and that they are given so that we can use them for God and doing His work. Everyone receives different gifts, but they're all from God and he ultimately decides who gets what.

Paul then beautifully explains that as believers we must do everything in love. He then reminds us what love looks like in 1 Corinthians 13 "...Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude... Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends..."

Paul concludes the letter by reminding them the most important thing above all- the gospel. The gospel being the good news that Jesus died and rose again for us and that, should we chose to believe that and live that out, we will be saved. He ends the letter by encourage the church in Corinth to stand firm in the faith.

Christ Connection: Jesus wants us as a church to worship God together and tell others about the gospel!

Family Activity: Give each family member paper and a pencil. Invite everyone to write down what responsibility means. (They may also say what the word means while another family member writes.) In a family, each member has responsibilities—just like members of a church. Write some responsibilities, such as dusting or taking out the trash, for each member of the family to do during the week.

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

June Memory Verse: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

June Theme: God knows everything! (1 Kings 17:1-6)

From the parent take-home page:  Make statements comparing your knowledge to God's knowledge. For example, "I don't know how to make it rain. God knows! God knows everything!"

Ask your child about things he doesn't know. Then tell him that God knows everything. For example, "Do you know that person's name? God knows. God knows everything."

Talk about Elijah. Remind your child that Elijah didn't know how to find water.  Elijah didn't know how to find food. God knew how to find food and water.

Pray: Praise God that He knows everything!

***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. Only cheerios are give as a snack to children ages 1 years+. If your child cannot have cheerios, we will make an exception but feed him/her separately from the group. If possible, please bring a labelled water cup for your child to use during the nursery. If you've forgotten a label, the check-in coordinator would be happy to print out a label for you!
