This week in CoaH Kids - June 26th, 2016

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CoaH Kids worship together at 11am this summer! Nursery is provided at both services. 

Family Worship Sunday: Next Sunday, July 3rd is Family Worship Sunday at both 9am & 11am services. On Family Worship Sundays your kids (Pre-K through 5th grade) will be taking a break from their regular CoaH Kids curriculum and joining everyone in the larger gathering for worship. 

We regularly have Family Worship Sunday to remind you as parents that you are the primary disciple-maker of your children. You have the opportunity to model worship for your kids as we do in the larger gathering. We also think this is a great opportunity for the larger church body to identify our families and celebrate our children as part of the church.  

Kids' Summer Adventure: Kids ages 3 yrs - 5th grade are welcome to join us for our annual Kids' Summer Adventure, a day-camp style summer program held July 18-22nd from 9:00am - 12:30pm. We'll be searching for the treasure of God's Amazing Grace! See our website for more details.

NURSERY

Please label your child's water cup before you come or ask the check-in coordinator to print out a label for you,  thanks!

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. We'll have a Cheerios snack (for ages 1 yrs old and up) during Bible story time, but please don't give your child a bagel or other snack when you are checking them in. We clean our toys regularly, but we don't like to take chances.

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

June Memory Verse: Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe."

June Theme: God knows everything! Based on 1 Kings 17: 1-6, your child learned about God feeding his servant Elijah. 

From the parent take-home page: Make statements comparing your knowledge to God's knowledge. For example, "I don't know how to make it rain. God knows! God knows everything!" Ask your child about things he doesn't know. Then tell him that God knows everything. For example, "Do you know that person's name? God knows. God knows everything." Talk about Elijah. Remind your child that Elijah didn't know how to find water.  Elijah didn't know how to find food. God knew how to find food and water.  (A Sure Foundation, 2005)

 

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

Memory Verse: Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."

This Week's Story: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. Over the next few weeks, kids will be studying some of Jesus’ sermons and parables. During His time on earth, Jesus spent time preaching about God’s kingdom. One of Jesus’ most well-known sermons is the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is recorded across three chapters in the Gospel of Matthew. In Matthew 5–7, Jesus taught how believers should live. While Matthew 5:1-2 specifies that Jesus taught His disciples, Matthew 7:28 reveals that the crowds listened to His sermon as well.

First, Jesus began with the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes describe God’s great blessings for believers. God’s kingdom belongs to the spiritually needy, God will comfort those who are sad, and God will give mercy to those who show mercy to others. Jesus gives believers reason to be glad when life on earth is hard because great rewards await in heaven. Jesus also taught how believers should live in a world that does not honor Him. Jesus called believers “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matt. 5:13-14). He said the good works of His followers should cause others to give glory to God.

Jesus taught about a righteousness that comes from the inside. God’s people had the law of Moses, but some of them—the Pharisees, in particular—were concerned mostly with the appearance of being righteous. The scribes and Pharisees looked righteous on the outside, but Jesus taught His disciples about a righteousness that comes from the inside. People who know and love Jesus have changed hearts that want to honor Jesus.
