This week in CoaH Kids - Aug 7th, 2016

Continuing their unit on the Power of Jesus, today the Pre-K through 5th graders learned about the healing of blind Bartimaeus. The prophet Isaiah wrote that the promised Messiah would open the eyes of the people who were blind (Isaiah 25:5; 42:7). While we might not be physically blind, our sin prevents us from seeing the truth about God until Jesus opens our eyes and saves us. Our 2-3 yr old class started a new unit on Jonah and will be focusing on how God is everywhere for the next few weeks.

Stop Having "Quiet" Times

Some of us grew up in the church and talked about having "quiet times" or QT. What this usually meant was time alone with God.

This week in CoaH Kids - July 31st, 2016

The final week for the 2 - 3 yr old class and the July theme: There is only one God. Meanwhile, in our Pre-K - 5th grade classes, Jesus demonstrated His power to provide by feeding over 5,000 people. This story is seen in all four gospels and reminds us that God can and will provide for all of our needs.

This week in CoaH Kids - July 24th, 2016

This week in CoaH Kids our 2 - 3 yr old class will continue their theme based on 2 Kings 5 where God healed Namaan. The key phrase this month is "There is only one God." Read on to hear about ways you can reinforce message this at home. In our older kids' program, we are starting a new unit on the Power of Jesus. Over the next 5 weeks we will see the ways Jesus has power of our broken world starting with His power over creation.

Judging vs. Correcting Others

Last week I preached a sermon called Worldliness / Godliness. We originally divided the passage to include James 4:4-12, but as I was preparing the message I felt like v. 11-12 were on a different topic than the rest of the passage, so I left it out of the sermon. But I think that the message of James 4:11-12 is an important one in our church, so I wanted to make sure that we address it in the pastoral reflection this week.
